Key Stage 1 (KS1)
KS1 refers to the two years of schooling usually know as Year 1 and Year 2 for children aged 5-7. By the age of 7 most children are expected to achieve Level 2.
The table below shows the proportion of pupils achieving Level 2 or above in KS1 Teacher Assessments in 2010/2011 (supported by task/test results).

The gap between Sandwell and the national average is 4 percentage points in reading, 6 percentage points in writing and 3 percentage points in maths.
In all subjects at Key Stage 1, a higher proportion of girls than boys achieved L2+, both in Sandwell and nationally. The largest achievement gap in those subjects shown in 2010/11 is in writing, with a 15 percentage point difference between boys and girls in Sandwell and an 11 percentage point difference nationally.
